In India  Deccan Plateau making up most of the southern part. It rises 100 meters in the north and more than 1km in the south, forming a raised triangle within the Indian coastline.The plateau located between the Western Ghats and the Eastern Ghats each of which rises from its nearby coastal plains. The region slopes eastward allowing flowing of drainage towards the Bay of Bengal.During the dry season and monsoon water in the rivers fluctuates considerably. The only source of water during the monsoon rains are rivers flowing out of the Himalayas which consist of a year-round moisture from snow packs in the high mountains.During winter, many of the rivers throughout the South Deccan become almost dry and are considered useless for irrigation
