On the basis of the presence or absence of nuclear memebrane cells may be classified into two categories.

1. Eukaryotic cells --- they are cells with nuclear memebrane. [ Eu means advanced and karyon means nucleus.Thus eukaryotic cells are those with advanced and well developed nuckeus.]

2.Prokaryotic cells--- they are cells without nuclear memebrane.[ Pro means primitive and karyon means nucleus. thus prokaryotic cells are those with primitive nucleus. ]

On the basis of neclear membrane cell are classified in two types of cells -
1) Prokaryotic cell &
2) Eukaryotic cell

PROKARYOTIC CELLS
Cells that lack the presence of nuclear membrane are called PROKARYOTIC cells.

EUKARYOTIC CELLS
Cells that have a nuclear membrane with the nuclear material are called EUKARYOTIC cell .
