yes cathode is negative hence it move to North direction of the pole

The cathode rays will move towards the North pole.

As cathode rays are negatively charged rays as well as north pole is said to be a positive pole.

North pole is said to be positive as it is experimentally proven that when a positive ray moves towards the North pole it bends away from it. Illustrating , North pole is positive in nature.

So unlike charges attract each other...
