hi
A cathode ray is a beam of electrons in a vacuum tube traveling from the negatively charged electrode at one end to the positively charged electrode at the other across a voltage difference between the electrodes They are also called electron beams

Cathode Ray : stream of electrons leaving the negative electrode (cathode) in a discharge tube containing a gas at low pressure, or electrons emitted by a heated filament in certain electron tubes.

Properties of Cathode Rays :

they travel in straight lines, like waves.
They can penetrate thin foils, like particles.
Thus they exhibit wave particle duality, like light.
