For winning a war let alone waging one against, you need several factors aligned.
You need backing of at least one Security council member on your side - so that you can veto a UN military action.You need support of all of India's neighboring countries - China, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.You need to be a big power who can intimidate powerful friends of India from giving outside help.The government machinery needs to be weak, currently we have a single party ruling the country, so they can take bold decisions.You will need a Strong fleet of air force and Navy.Now you have got above checklist covered we will go to the next step in plan of action
India has long land and maritime frontiers - It is India's strength as well as weakness, India have been attacked through the mountainous front a lot and have lot of expertise in defending with that attack. Last time when china docked two of it's submarines in Sri Lanka - India were quick to lodge a concern to Sri Lankan government - compared to the other fronts India is weak in it's naval front. India doesn't have cutting edge technology and the numbers are also quite bad.India’s navy has experience, geography and some powerful friends on its side, but the defense allocation is meager compared to air force and military.India has some internal issues to handle - Major insurgent activity not from Pakistan only we have Maoists and ULFA to manage, if you can unsettle them the riot control section and the CRPF can be engaged heads on combat with them.Need to initiate a 3 way pronged attack from Pakistan side, the north-eastern front and south.Military exceptionally talented in unconventional warfare like Marines.To engage India from southern end of country you might just need a fleet of nuclear submarines.Indian Ballistic Missile Defense Programme - India's ballistic defense might render your nuclear capable missiles fired from land useless.You will need serious ballistic missile defense system to counter our ICBM's having range of about 5500-5800 km.

You might need the might of US or Russian force to take the fight to India. Even if you did that, it might result in a nuclear winter. No sane person is gonna try that, even after that you want war -
