Democracy is the government of the people, by the people and for the people. In the democracy, every individual is given equal status and equal value. May it be poor or rich.
Democracy gives people all the rights which they wish for. Democracy ensures the empowerment of women , scheduled castes , scheduled tribes etc. in order to exercise their right to vote.
This creates a dignity of individual as people get chance of all the rights. In fact, Respect, Freedom and dignity is the basis of the democracy.
Government of India too, is taking steps ahead in order to strengthen the democracy by promoting the dignity and freedom of the citizens.

What is democracy ?
● Democracy is a form of government in which people elect their representatives to form the Government .
● Hence , the Government is formed of the people , by the people for the people .
How does democracy promote dignity and freedom of individuals ?
■ Democracy enables the people to choose the political leaders whom they want. Hence , people are themselves responsible for their own good administration .
■ All citizens of and above 18 years have the right to cast their vote.Hence they have freedom to express their opinion.
■ Democracy views all the citizens equally and hence promotes social , cultural equality as it does not discriminate people on the basis of caste , region , religion , gender , etc.
■ A single integrated judiciary is the first condition of a liberal democracy. This body of judiciary effectively is independent and protects the rights of each and every citizen thus promoting dignity and freedom of individuals.
■ Democracy provides for separation of powers between the legislative which makes laws , executive which executes the laws and judiciary which defends the laws ! Hence law is safe and secure for the citizens . They can enjoy protection of these laws .
■ Democracy provides the basic Fundamental Rights of citizens by which they get the freedom of expression , religion and so on .
■ Democracy not only provides rights but also has the Right to Constitutional remedies which defends the rights in case of violation of these rights .
■ The democracy has a balance of powers . Even the Prime Minister can be impeached , the President can be impeached , the Lok Sabha can be dissolved if they are incapable . This ensured continuance of progress in the administration of the country.
■ The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha has the power of interpellation , or the right to ask questions to the Government . This checks corruption and promotes better welfare of the people in the Country.
