Once there lived a king . He was very religious . Everyday in the morning , he would offer flowers to the idol present in the nearest royal temple beside his palace . Unlike other kings in the neighbouring states , he himself used to go and give the offerings of money , flowers , honey and milk . Since he was a king , he used to donate a lot of money to the temple because it was royal .
One day he decided to change the temple idol because he thought that the present idol was too old for being a royal one . So , he thought to change it with a gold stone and fill it with more ornaments and show it more royal because he just wanted to show off his royality in front of other kings . He had the thing in his mind that the gods goddesses will be pleased with him for his royal devotion but it was totally wrong .
That night he was sleeping peacefully because the next morning he was going to change the old idol with a astrologically divined golden stone . He was too excited and happy . But , on the same night , God came in his dreams and said to him , "You are doing very wrong actions being a king my child . If you could spend this gold as money for your kingdom in better actions , you would be blessed for a long life ." Saying this God went away and next morning , the king remembered the dream which he saw . He repented for thinking to show off and then changed his mind . He then ordered for clothes , food and money for the people of his kingdom and decided to work for their betterment . Thus. he became a great king and his kingdom loved him .
