The cell wall of fungi is made up off chitin.

Chitn is a long chain of polymers.

It is mostly found in cell walls in animals and fungi.

The word chitin comes from a french word chitine.

Chitin was was determined by Albert Hofmann in 1929.

Chitin is a good material to defend plants from diseases.

Chitin is also used to make fertilizers.

Chitin is also very usefull in medecine industry.

the cell walls of fungi are made of CHITIN os CHITOSAN
consisting mainly of unbranched chains of β-(1,4)N-Acetylglucosamine  in the Ascomycota and Basidiomycota.....

In fungi, the cell wall is the outer-most layer, external to the plasma membrane . The fungal cell wall is a matrix of three main components:
▪chitin
▪protein
▪glucans

this cell wall helps fungi in many ways:
1-

formation of a rigid, mechanical barrier on the surface of the protoplast, which also determines the cell shape.

2-

protection from osmotic stress on the protoplast.
