Cells are made up of molecules. Why then do we say that the structural unit of a living thing is a cell and not a molecule? Pls ans quick don't comment

cell is made up of molecules like electron proton & neutron. but structural & functional unit of life is cell. we can take example of a brick as brick is made up of soil ,sand heat but it is not fundamental of house fundamental is brick.

Molecule is a non- living structure, but they are responsible for assembling in various ways to create the parts of cells. Molecules cannot function independntly whereas when they combine they give rise to a functional unit called cell. This is the reason why cell is called a functional unit of life and not molecules
