hi!

let me explain you...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

what do we call a structural or functional unit - it is something which is a basic unit of the entire thing.lets say we are building a house.every room or wall or some pillar say any part of it is made of bricks.so here the bricks are the basic structural unit of a building as they form whole thing i mean building.

and in the same way cell is the basic structural unit of organisms because every organism is made of cell either it may be single cell (unicellular) or many (multicellular).

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hope it helps you!

Here is your answer...

Cells are the basic and structural units of organisms.

Because the organisms are made up of cells.

Without cell there is no organism.

By the group of similar cells tissues are formed.

By the group of similar tissues organs are formed.

By the group of organs organsystem is formed.

By the group of organsystem organism is formed.

So to form an organism we need cell.

Cell plays an important role.

So cell is called as the basic and structural units of organisms.
