Cellular respiration is a process occurring in all cells of the body during which the cells obtain water and the resulting Carbon Dioxide is released, by breaking down sugar.
The process of cellular respiration is divided into three steps.
Step one is called Glycolysis wherein sugar is deconstructed into pyruvic acid.
Step two is called Citric Acid Cycle which involves breaking down pyruvic acid into CO2, enzymes and water.
Step three which is called Oxidative Phosphorylation is when the enzymes produced during step two are used to produce ATP.
