CELLULAR RESPIRATION PRODUCES ATP
Answer each question A-B
A. Living cells consume oxygen and excrete carbon dioxide during ATP synthesis using the chemical pathway called “cellular respiration”. Name the substrates of this chemical pathway. Name the products of this chemical pathway.
B. Humans will die if blood flow to cells stops (ex. heart failure) or if breathing stops (ex. respiratory failure) because cells cannot perform cellular respiration. Explain why body cells die if they are unable to obtain enough oxygen. Explain why high levels of carbon dioxide are also toxic to body cells.
