The silica modulus mainly governs the proportion of silicate phases in the clinker, whilst the alumina modulus governs the ratio of aluminate to ferrite phases in the clinker; for normal PC clinker, the silica and alumina moduli usually vary from 2.0 to 3.0 and from 1.0 to 4.0, respectively (Taylor, 1997).
