According to my NCERT class 10th book. Question 3 First part is attached in attachment file.

Answer:

The numbers are 13 and 39.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's assume the larger number to be x.

And

Smaller number to be y.

Difference between two numbers are 26

According to Question :

x  - y = 26

x = 26 + y \:  \:  \:  \:  \:   \:  { \red{\longrightarrow} \: equation \: 1}

Also it's said that one number is three times the other.

So,

x = 3y \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  \:  { \blue{\longrightarrow} \: equation \: 2}

 \red{ \tt{Substituting \:  value  \: in \:  equation 1}}

 \red{ \tt{26 + y = 3y}}

 \red{ \tt{ - 2y =  - 26}}

 \red{ \tt{y =  \cancel\frac{ - 26}{ - 2} }}

 \red{ \tt{y = 13}}

 \blue{ \tt{substituting \: value \: of \: y \: in \: equation \: 2}}

 \blue{ \tt{x = 3 \times 13}}

\blue{ \tt{x = 39}}

\green{  \bold{\tt{hence \: the \: number \: is \: 13 \: and \: 39}}}
