Answer 1:

Given:

  • ∆XYZ is an isosceles triangle. ( XY = XZ )
  • XO is the bisector of angle X. ( angle YXO = angle ZXO )

To Prove:

∆XOY is congruent to ∆XOZ.

Proof:

In ∆XOY and ∆XOZ,

  • XY = XZ ( given )
  • angle YXO = angle ZXO ( XO bisects angle X )
  • XO = XO ( common )

By SAS congruency criterion, ∆XOY is congruent to ∆XOZ.

Answer 2:

Given:

  • ∆XYZ is an isosceles triangle. ( XY = XZ )
  • XO is the median of YZ. ( YO = ZO )

To Prove:

∆XOY is congruent to ∆XOZ.

Proof:

In ∆XOY and ∆XOZ,

  • XY = XZ ( given )
  • XO = XO ( common )
  • YO = ZO ( XO is the median of YZ )

By SSS congruency criterion, ∆XOY is congruent to ∆XOZ.
