CH4 , C2H6 , C3H8 , C4H10 etc ....... are homologous series . why ?​

Reason for given compounds being homologous series is -

•Given compounds are alkanes.

•They are the type of hydrocarbons, which contain carbon and hydrogen.

•Homologous series have similar chemical properties and general chemical formula, (CH)2 in this case.

•Homologous series follows the trend in physic properties, example change in boiling point, melting point, molecular weight with respect to increasing length.

•Since given compounds follow all the enlisted properties of homologous series of alkanes, they are named so.
