Solution ➤

Total % of ingredients in chalk = 100%

% of Calcium = 10%

% of Carbon = 3%

% of Oxygen = 12%

% of Sand = { 100 - ( 10 + 3 + 12 ) } %

= { 100 - 25 } %

= 75 %

A1.

Total weight of Chalk = 5 / 2 kg

∴ Amount of Carbon

= 3% of 5 / 2 kg
= { 3 / 100 × 5 / 2 } kg
= { 3 / ( 20 × 2 ) } kg
= { 3 / 40 } kg
= { 3 / 40 × 1000 } g
= { 300 / 4 } g
= 75 g

∴ Amount of Calcium

= 10% of 5 / 2 kg
= { 10 / 100 × 5 / 2 } kg
= { 5 / 20 } kg
= { 1 / 4 } kg
= { 1 / 4 × 1000 } g
= 250 g

Hence, amount of Carbon is 75g and amount of Calcium is 250g in ( 5 / 2 )kg of Chalk.

A2.

∴ Amount of Sand

= 75% of 5 / 2 kg
= { 75 / 100 × 5 / 2 } kg
= { 75 / ( 20 × 2 ) } kg
= { 75 / 40 } kg
= { 75 / 40 × 1000 } g
= { 75 × 25 } g
= 1,875 g

Hence, amount of Sand is 1,875g in (5/2)kg of Chalk.
