Given that, charge q is placed on the corners

                  distance from corners to the centre a

Electric field at the centre will be the vector sum of all electric fields due to each individual charges on the corners of the pentagon

Hence,

Distance = r = a

Charge = q = q

Electric field due to one individual charge = kq/r²

                                                                      = kq/a²

Electric field due to 2 opposite charges will get cancelled

Hence,

Vector sum of all 4 electric fields = √[ (kq/a²)² + (kq/a²)² ]

                                                       = √2 kq/a²
