Answer:

The answer is 3.25 days.

Step-by-step explanation:

Chandan needs 16 days to complete 1 portion of a work

then , Chandan needs 1 day to complete (1/16) portion of a work

Sohan needs 12 days to complete 1 portion of a work

then , Sohan needs 1 day to complete (1/12) portion of a work

Then , together they need 1 day to complete ( 1/12 + 1/16 ) portion of a work

together they need 5 days to complete 5 × ( 1/12 + 1/16 ) portion of a work

                                                                 = 5 × 7/48 = 35/48

the remains portion of work is ( 1 - 35/48 ) = 13/48

Then , to complete the remaining 13/48 portion of the work sohan needs ,

( 12 × 13/48 ) = 13/4 = 3.25 days
