Answer: The reason why Mumbai is quite warmer than Chandigarh in Summers are:-
Since Mumbai is close to seashore and it is also close to coastal area because of which temperature increases over here.
On the other hand Chandigarh is quite far from equator as compare to Mumbai but it is very close to the very famous hill station Shimla due to which climate in Chandigarh doesn't increase much. That's the main reason why Mumbai is much warmer than Chandigarh in Summers.
During summer, the plateau of Tibet becomes hotspot for the sun as the sun gets shifted towards the Northern hemisphere. Thus hot winds effects the surrounding region like Chandigarh. Not only the high intensity of heat of sun rays, but the North-East winds heat Chandigarh a lot more than the Mumbai.
Also Mumbai is located near the sea so the moderation effect is brought to some extent. And Mumbai is on higher altitude than Chandigarh.
