Example

Take an iron sulphate solution. Iron sulphate solution is green in colour.

Now add a copper substance in the solution.

Observation: We observe that the solution turns blue in colour when a copper substance is added to the iron solution and some iron deposits on the bottom of the solution is also observed. Thus colour change is an indication of a chemical reaction. The chemical reaction that takes place is -

FeSo4 + Cu --------------> CuSo4 + Fe
