Hope u like my process.
======================
=> All the direct and indirect changes are made in past tense that it is actually in..

=> All the speech are in the same tone but the interrogation is no longer an interrogation in conversion to indirect.

=>if there are Wh words for questions, then if /whether is not used.

Direct => He said, "what do you mean?"

Indirect=> He asked what he meant.

====================================

There are two clauses in Direct Speech.
One is reported clause and other is reporting clause.

In this question..Only reporting clause is mentioned.

If the reported clause is : "The man said to me "

Then the sentence in Direct speech will be -

\underline{DIRECT \: \: SPEECH}

The \: \: man \: \: said \: \: to \: \: me,'' what \: \: do \: \: you \: \: mean \:? ''

\underline{INDIRECT \: \: SPEECH}

The \: \: man \: \: asked \: \: me \: \: what \: \: i \: \: was \: \: meant \:.
