HERES YOUR ANSWER MATE,
The discourse regarding the effects of globalization on cultural diversity is a challenging debate. The advancement of technology dissolves international boundaries and opens cultures to a whole new arena (Smith, 2000), enabling globalization to occur. Globalization can be an empowering entity. It can interconnect the world, support economic development, provide information availability and assist in developing a global village (Moahi, 2007).

Due to the unprecedented access to cultures, a much wider audience than ever before has a gateway to see, hear and experience phenomenathat were never accessible previously (Smith, 2000). Misrepresentation, stereotyping and the risk of loss of cultural and intellectual property rights are the consequences of unmonitored access.
NEGATIVE INFLUENCE-
There are a number of negative impacts globalizationhas had on cultural diversity, including the influence multinational corporations have on promoting a consumer culture, exploitation of workers and markets and influencing societal values. This increased availability of commercial media and products can "drown out" local cultural influences.

Positive Influences

The technological global mecca can be empowering for various cultures as it allows self-representation and information sharing on a whole new level. Technology provides a medium where depiction of images and portrayals of self-identity can provide the means in which truism can be established. Global mediacentres allow cultures a distinctive voice to promote awareness and provide public knowledge and understanding of their stories and identities. It also allows for the communication of their relevant accounts and commentaries on issues that are important in preserving the culture and knowledge acquisition of cultural ways - allowing them to retain their diversity. Being in charge of their own media production companies allows control of their artifacts, signs and symbols that are regarded as cultural property. When cultures are in control of their own public images they are better equipped to manage and represent their images appropriately without misrepresentation.

Instead of destroying some cultures, as others predicted, mass media assists in the revitalizing and restoring of cultural preservation of nations (Ginsburg, 2002). Technology can be used to preserve language, customs and culture. Technology allows for self-representation and preservation of personal and collective identity by providing autonomy and empowerment.

Answer:

Explanation:

Globalization  is  often  exclusively  associated  with  worldwide  economic integration  and  the  emergence  of  a borderless  global  market.  However, globalization  also  involves  sweeping changes  on  the social,  cultural  and political terrains.   Globalization is not an inclusive or progressive form of internationalism. Rather, it is the successful expansion on a world scale of particular localisms  of social,  economic, and political  organization, which are  neo-liberal  and  capitalist  in  character.  The  mix  of  material  and ideological elements that make this expansion possible makes globalization a hegemonic process. Nor does globalization create or encourage economic freedom, opportunities, and  choice  at all levels; rather it is  more  akin to a monoculture  of  ideas,  politics,  and  economic  models.  The  major consequences  of  globalization  have  been:  the  transmogrification  of traditional religions and belief systems; the beginning of the disintegration of the traditional  social fabrics and shared norms  by consumerism, cyber-culture, newfangled religions and changing work ethics and work rhythms; the fast spreading anomie forcing an ever increasing number of individuals to fall back upon the easily accessible pretentious religious banalities, and attributing  to  religion  the  creation  and  acceleration  of  extremist, fundamentalist and terrorist tendencies in the third world countries. To sum up, culture as a way of human life is constantly undergoing change. Certain developments  in modem  times  have helped  to  accelerate this  process  of change  in  an  exponential  manner  involving  two  major  consequences:  (a) reduction in cultural diversity; and (b) increasing hegemonic control in the name  of  free  trade  and  freedom  of  communication,  at  all  levels.  The implications of this change are varied and there are no indications that they are  in any  way increasing  the  social,  material or  spiritual  well-being  of humanity. Finally, it can be said that every culture of world was affected by one way  or other in  terms of its  influence and  identity. Only  one culture dominates  that  is  western culture.  Western culture  also dominates  due to power  approach  of  Western  World.  Today, every culture  of  the  world  is under the  umbrella of  Western culture, It  was always interest of  West to rule over  the world especially  to marginalize  the developing world.
