1) The story starts with a banker who was thinking of a party he had given fifteen years ago. During the party a discussion arose about the punishment of which was more immoral. This discussion soon turned into an argument between the banker who thought that life imprisonment was more immoral and a lawyer disagreed with this view and that's how the bet arose. The lawyer staked his freedom and decided to live fifteen years in a confinement and the banker staked his two millions. Now, the banker remembering all that had happened fifteen years ago knew that his two millions would be owned by the lawyer soon, so he decided to kill him and when he reaches the place where the lawyer was confined he saw a letter which told that the lawyer would escape from the place just five hours before the time fixed because he believed that money was worthless. And he did the same as he wrote.
2) The main characters of the story was the lawyer and the banker.
3) At the end the lawyer escaped from the confinement just five hours before the fixed time because being in the captivity and reading all the books he realised that money was worthless and he didn't want the banker's two millions. Reading the letter written by the banker his character completely transforms and he felt so great a contempt for himself. He wept. And the next day after the fleet of the lawyer was announced, the banker made sure of the flight. And the letter written by the lawyer was kept in a safe by the banker and he never showed it to anyone to avoid unnecessary talks.
