Abraham Lincoln was one of the greatest leaders that the world has ever seen. He was an extraordinary man who possessed the qualities of humility and simplicity.He
was kind, tough, righteous and God-fearing. He was the sixteenth President of the United States of America. He was the man who devoted his whole life to free the black
slaves from the cruelties of the whites. He abolished slavery.
Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, at Kentucky. His parents were too poor to have a house of their own. Thus, he was destined to take birth in a log cabin. For
his parents, Thomas and Nancy, life was really difficult. They were humble and
uneducated. As time passed, Lincoln grew up. Physically, he was not handsome. His face was compared to squeezed dry cherry. Lincoln never felt ashamed of his humble origin, but felt proud of it. He inherited the spirit of patriotism from his ancestors. He was a very honest man. His friends
called him Honest Abe'.
Lincoln was a man of great experience with lesser learning. He gained experience as a storekeeper, woodcutter, butcher, tanner and even a surveyor. So he could understand the feelings of the poor people who suffered a lot. He was a friend of the labourers. He was a lover of liberty. In his time, the society was divided into two classes of blacks and whites. He saw and understood that the white class had the 'liberty to exploit' and the black class needed "liberty from exploitation'. He was the man who fulfilled the expectations of his own people. He fought
against his enemies and rivals.
Like Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru, Lincoln also loved children. He loved and enjoyed playing games with the children. Very often, his office became a playground for the children. Owing to his loving attitude,children also loved him a lot.
