" Saheb is no longer his own master". Saheb was the small boy who was bound to do ragpicking in the Dhaka, Bangladesh. His utter poverty insisted him to choose ragpicking. Even he hadn't money to buy slippers, daily meals and school was much far away for him. He used to wear discarded shoes and shorts which were thrown away in piles of garbage by rich children. He also used to work in the " tea stall" where he was paid 800 rupees and all his daily meals. He was bound to do the service for others as he had to earn his daily meals. These work were not apted by him as per his wish or ambition. That's why he wasn't his own master.

Mukesh insist on being his own master. His dream was to " become a motor mechanic". He was also living in perpetual poverty but still he had some faith that one day he will become a motor mechanic. He used to live in a Bangle maker family in Firozabad where children were in great danger of eyesight loss due to carrying out the process of Bangle making. Their family was bound to do bangle making as their forefathers had taken debt from bangle makers head. So, this had been continued to generation to generation. Due to legal documents, they cannot report the head to police too. When author asked him about whether he dreamt of flying a plane, then he said that no. Though it was a big dream for him, still he murmured which wasn't his regret but his hope. This shows that " Mukesh was his own master."
