Answer:

Chola dynasty rose to power and ruled South India between 7th and 12th century. Rajaraja Chola and Rajendra I were the greatest of Chola kings. All the fertile banks of River Kaveri were cleared and turned into agricultural lands, where embankments were constructed to prevent floods. These plots were irrigated by cutting canals from River Kaveri, wells, and man-made water tanks.

In administration, village councils were formed to take care of groups of villages called Nadus, controlled by rich farmers. The administrations of towns were controlled by traders’ associations. Many splendid temples were built at Tanjavur and Gangaikondalcholapuram by the Chola kings.
