Let the number of boys be 7x and number of girls be 5x

According to condition

7x-5x=8

2x=8

x=8/2( transposing 2 to right side, hence becomes division)

x=4

Number of boys=7x=7*4=28

Number of girls =5x=5*4=20

Hence total class streghth=28+20=48
