Chapter - The face on the wall

3. Holding the card tight in my hand I hurried to a lonely corner of the ship and read
it. My eyes grew dim; my head reeled; for on it were the words; Mr Ormond Wall,
with an address at Pittsburgh, USA. I remember no more until I found myself in a
hospital at Boulogne. There I lay in a broken condition for some weeks, and only a
month ago did I return.
(a) Who is the speaker of these lines? Where is he at the time he speaks the words
quoted above and to whom is he speaking?
(b) What ship was he on? Why did he get on that ship? How did he get the card
which he was holding tight in his hand?
(c) What happened to him after he had read the details on the card? What caused
this reaction?
(d) What did he do after he returned a month ago'? What were the results of
his efforts?
(e) What happened to Mr Ormond Wall eventually? What, according to the
speaker of the extract, was the curious event that took place at the time of
Mr Wall's death?
(f) What effect did the telling of this story have on those who were listening to it?
What was the surprising bit of information about the story that the speaker gave
them as he left them?
