Porifera:
• They are mostly marine animals but some are found in freshwater.
• They are stationary as they remain attached to the floor of the sea.
• The body is porous with numerous pores and one large opening to allow the entry of water. Example: sponge, Venus' flower basket, barrel sponge and stove-pipe sponge.
Cnidaria:
• They are mostly marine animals attached to the floor of the sea, for example, Hydra. Some are free-floating, for example, jellyfish. Sea anemone, Physalia and sea pen are some other examples of Phylum Cnidaria.
• They have a sac-like body with one opening, that is, the mouth.
• The mouth is surrounded by finger-like structures called 'Tentacles' for catching food.
