Nelson Mandela:

Nelson Mandela was born in Mvezo, South Africa on 18 July 1918. He was in the forefront anti-apartheid movement in South Africa. In 1964 he was sentenced to life imprisonment and sent to Robben Island and released from the prison in 1990 after 26 years. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in the year 1993. He was elected the first democratic president of South Africa in the year 1994. He died on 5 September 2013.
