Bholi is dominant character of the chapter "Bholi "whole story revolves around her from beginning to end .The chapter start with the birth of Bholi and ends with the violent reaction of bholi. the real name of Bholi is Sulekha when she was 10 months old she fell from the cot on her head and damaged some part of her brain that's why she could not speak when she was 5 years old later on she started speaking but stammered while speaking when she was 2 years old she was attacked by small box and this figured by the marks of smallpox she was fair and pretty when she was born but now she turned ugly whenever she spoke she was mimicked by neighbours and village children they used to laugh at her stammering. So, Bholi always remain quiet and did not mix up with other children of the neighbour when he was 7 years old a Primary School for Girls open in her village tahsildar forced her father Ram Lal to set an example in the village by sending his daughter in the school Bholi selected to send the school because there was already little chance about her being married at first bholi was not ready to go to school .because she gets that she would be sold just like her cow Lakshmi because she didn't know anything about the school first time. she heard about this school. the behaviour of head teacher affected very much. the head teacher assured her that she could also talk like other children of the village when she would be educated. the parents of bholi decided to marry her to a rich grocer Bishamber, He was unmatched bride groom for bholi. Because he was already more than forty five years old, Widower during marriage, Bishamber demanded 5,000 rupees as dowry from her father .Bholi 's father made request to reduce the amount of dowry but he stuck to his resolution.

At last , Ramlal gave him 5,000 rupees as dowry to marry his ugly daughter to a rich grocer. At this Bholi reacted very violently and refuge to marry greedy and heartless fellow Bhishamber .It was affect of education that brought all these changes in her personality.
