Decius Brutus was, in real life, one of the conspirators who assassinated Julius Caesar. He should not be confused with the more famous Marcus Brutus, who, though also a conspirator, was Caesar's best friend, and the man to whom the mortally wounded dictator said "Et tu, Brute?" just before he fell dead.
Decius Brutus is also a character in William Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar". He is the conspirator who deliberately "interprets" Calpurnia's dream wrongly so that Caesar will go to the Senate, where he will be assassinated. (Calpurnia, Caesar's wife, has dreamt that Caesar's statue spouted blood, but rather than taking this as a bad omen, Decius purposely fools Caesar into thinking that this is a favorable sign - it presumably means that Rome will have new blood and revive.)
Decius also suggests that it might be a good idea if some other powerful figure were assassinated that day, but his suggestion is voted down.

Decius Brutus is a minor, yet important character in William Shakespeare's 'Julius Caesar ' .Decius conspires with Brutus and other to assassinate Caesar ,and he escorts Caesar to the Senate where the conspirators wait. There are 2 characters named Brutus in 'Julius Caesar ' ,a fact that can lead to some confusion. Shakespeare refers to Marcus Brutus simply 'Brutus ' while Decius Brutus is a completely different character .
Decius Brutus joins Cassius ,Brutus and other in the plot to assassinate Caesar.
