Lencho is the main character of the story “The Letter to God.” He is a poor farmer who is the sole bread-earner of the family. He had faith in God. Lencho lived in a small house which was situated on the crest of a low hill in the valley.

Lencho was a hard working man; he worked like animals in his fields and grew corn crops. He possessed firm faith in god. He believed that no one dies of hunger. When his corn field was destroyed by the hailstorm, his only hope was god, so he decided to ask for his help by writing to him. He knew that god would surely help him. But lencho's blind faith also made him a foolish person. When he did not receive the complete money he had requested for, he accused the post office employees of being a 'bunch of crooks' because he thought that they had taken out some of the money god had sent for him. He did not have the attitude of being happy in whatever he got.
