Mr. Anagnos was one of those man who played an important role in shaping Helen's life and career. But a mistake of her's turned him against her and she lost a great friend.

Mr. Anagnos was the director of the Perkins Institute for the blind. Helen's parents came to know of him through Dr. Alexander Graham Bell, seeking help for her education, he advised them to contact Mr. Anagnos. Mr. Anagnos had devoted his life for the cause of the deprived children and furthered the contribution made by Dr. Howe in this noble cause. It was Mr anagnos who sent Miss Anne Sullivan to Helen's home for her education.

When Helen was charged with plagiarism, she lost his friendship and he turned against her. Thus she lost a well wisher. She often recalled with regret the time she shared with him.
