he was the the head of Boston's Perkins Institute for the blind. He had a keen eye for talent and merit. He was the man who spotted potential in Anne Sullivan and helped her in her education. He served as a mentor and friend to Sullivan and later brought Keller and Sullivan together thus initiating the miraculous transformation of Helen from a wild girl to a sophisticated lady. He was very affectionate towards Helen to begin with. However, their close relationship came to a sore end when Helen was accused of plagiarism of a story The Frost King that Anagnos published in the institute's journal.
