Mrs. Sophia Hopkins is a very famous character from the novel Story of my life which is based on Helen Keller's biography.

Mrs. Sophia was the friend with whom Helen and Miss Sullivan stayed during their summer time at Brewster. Mrs. Hopkins used to read loads of books to Helen, one of which was very famous named "The Frost Fairies."

She became widow at the age of 22 only and also lost her only daughter in 1883. Later on she came to Perkins institution and became house matron.
