Daughter of Mrs. and Mr. Otis, Virginia is a fifteen year old girl. She is very sweet, active and lovely. Through the story we come to know that Virginia is a sporty girl who loves horse riding.Virginia is helpful and generous, even when her safety is in peril. This is shown by her willingness to help the ghost, even though she is warned against it.Virginia grew quite grave, and her little lips trembled like rose-leaves. Virginia is the only member of the family who shows no interest in the ghost at all. She does not bother him nor does she try to remove the blood-stain in the library, like the other members of her family.

Virginia was a lovely girl of fifteen, with large blue eyes. She was a good sportswoman and loved to ride horses. Virginia was the only one that didn't seem to share her brother's joke to the ghost.Towards the end of the story, we also come to know that Virginia is quite grateful too. She pays a visit to the ghost’s grave to pay her tribute and express her gratitude for having made her understand the importance of Life, Death and Love, etc. ...............
