Mme Forestier Matilda's friend. She was a wealthy lady. She treats Matilda kindly but Matilda is bitterly jealous of Mrs Forestier's wealth,and the kindness pained her. Mme Forestier lends Matilda the necklace for the party and does not inspect it when Matilda returns it
