In the novel ‘Malgudi days’ written by R.K. Narayan, Rajam is a friend of Swami.
Rajam’s entrance in the novel doesn’t really seem like a humble one. He is the son of the Police Superintendent and hence the proud nature. He is new to the class, yet he is a bit arrogant by nature. He is bright and charming. He is quick to sarcasm and he is witty.
On the other hand, he has got certain good qualities like teaming up his friends and urging them to face new challenges and new goals.
In the novel "Swami and Friends" written by R.K. Narayan, Rajam, Swami and Mani are the three boys who are friends. Rajam's father is the Police Superintendent in Malgudi. At the beginning of the novel, Swami and Mani felt very insecure because of Rajam. Rajam wore fine clothes, was cleaver and didn't fear anyone. At times, he is seen to bully his friends under the name of his father. He was the one who would lead the team and help in the formation of a team and initiate things. He is liked by most of the students in the school.
