Framton Nuttel suffered from severe anxiety and was of a nervous disposition. He moved to the rural area as part of his treatment to soothe his nerves. Fearing Framton would further isolate himself and not speak to anybody, his sister gave him letters of reference as introduction to people she knew. His nervous nature is evident when he leaves in a hurry on seeing the men return from a hunt. He is easily duped by the young girl into believing her story.

Answer:
In the story 'The open window', Framton Nutel is shown as a nervous and gullible man who easily gets scared or excited and falls for Vena's prank. He suffers from a nervous condition, so his doctor advised him to visit the countryside in hopes of easing his mind and relieving his tension.
