to test o2 gas bring a lightning candle near the tube from where the gas is evolved .if o2 is evolved then the candle will burn more luminously ( or brightly) .

to test h2 gas , again bring the candle near that tube . if h2 gas is evolved ,then the candle will burn with a popping sound .
