JEROME KLAPKA JEROME (Jerome): The protagonist of his own classic novel as well as the narrator, he is a hypochondriac always concerned about his health. Because of his long association with river Thames, he gives a wonderful description of the people and places on the river. His sense of humour and the ability to laugh at himself is unmatched. He loves beauty and romance. He displays deep knowledge of social practices, history, food, costumes and drinks that the people of the Thames region are associated with. In fact, he has all the qualities of a professional traveller.
