Answer: They conducted experiment with canary grass and its bending towards light when coleoptile was present and in absence of coleoptile there was no bending. They concluded that there was some chemical substance which was synthesized at the tip of coleoptile and moved towards the base responsible for bending of grass, this chemical was later identified as Auxin.
