Answer:

 \tt \large  \implies \red{ \boxed 8}

Step-by-step explanation:

Question:-

  • check weather (x+2) is a factor of x^3-2x^2-5x+4

Assume:-

p(x) = x^3-2x^2-5x+4

Now first we find the value of x

x+2=0

x = 0-2

x= -2

By Using Remainder Theorem,

Now put the value of x in p(x)

 \implies \tt p(x) =(  { - 2})^{3} -   2 \times(  { - 2})^{2}  - 5 \times  - 2 + 4 \\  \tt \implies p(x) =  - 8( - 2 \times 4)  + 10 + 4 \\   \implies\tt p(x) =  - 8 - 8 + 14 = 8

Since remainder is 8 , so (x+2) is not factor of p(x).
