Given:

Terms 5,11,17,23

To find:

Whether 301 is term of list of numbers

Solution:

Here in list of numbers,

5, 11, 17, 23

The common difference (d) is 6

11 - 5 = 6

17 - 11 = 6

23 - 17 = 6

So, it is sequence of Arithmetic progression

Here,

First term = a = 5

Common difference = d = 6

n = ?

tn = 301

Note:

If the value of n is not proper integer like 1,2,3.. then it not comes under the list of numbers

As we know the general formula,

tn = a + (n - 1) d

301 = 5 + (n - 1) 6

301 = 5 + 6n - 6

301 = -1 + 6n

301 + 1 = 6n

302 = 6n

 \\  \\  \dfrac{302}{6}  = 50.33

n = 50.33

Answer:

Thus, 301 not comes under the list of numbers of 5, 11, 17, 23
