First put the value of x as 3
(3)^2 - 3 - 6 = 0
9 - 3 - 6 = 0
6-6=0
It us the zeroes of the polynomial
Now put the value of x as - 2
(-2)^2 - (-2) - 6 = 0
4 + 2 - 6 = 0
6-6=0
It is also the zeroes of the polynomial

p(x) = {x}^{2} - x - 6 \\ \\ p(x) = {x}^{2} - 3x + 2x - 6 \\ \\ p(x) = x(x - 3) + 2(x - 3) \\ \\ p(x) = ( x + 2)(x - 3) \\ \\ now \\ \\ p( - 2) = ( - 2 + 2)( - 2 - 3) = 0 \\ \\ also \\ \\ p(3) = (3 + 2)(3 - 3) = 0 \\ \\ therefore \: 3 \: and \: - 2 \: are \: zeroes \: of \: p(x)

hope it helps.
