Ex 2.3, 3

Check whether 7 + 3x is a factor of 3x3 + 7x.

Finding remainder when + 7x is divided by 7 + 3x

Dividend Divisor Step 1:

Put Divisor = O

7+3x=o

3

Step 2:

Let p(x) =

Putting x = — 3

343 49

9 3

—343 - 49(3)

Since, remainder is not O

Thus, 7 + 3x is a not factor of 3x3 + 7x

Step-by-step explanation:

let, 7+3x = 0

3x = -7

X = -7/3

now,

keeping the value of X = -7/3

in ply. = 3x+3+7x

if the remainder comes 0 then 7+3x will be factor of 3x+3+7x

let's check,

p(x) = 3x+3+7x

p(-7/3) = 3(-7/3)+3+7(-7/3)

= -7+3-49/3

= (-21+9-49)/3........(after making denominator same).

= (-70+9)/3

= -61/3

Hence, the remainder is not 0 so 7+3x is not the factor of 3x+3+7x.

Hope it would be helpful!!!!!!

Thank you!!!!
