In my kitchen, there are cabinets for storing all the utensils, rice, different types of legumes and spices mainly but many of them don't fit inside those cabinets and there are chances that rats or mice will spoil all the food that we have in the kitchen.

Mostly the products are unkempt, which leads to lesser storage and danger of rolling down on the floor when the cabinet is opened.

We have special container for all the food. A huge drum for storing rice, one litre containers for legumes, oil, salt and sugar, and tiny containers for other spices.

What we can do is to buy containers with multiple storage so that it'll take up less space and throw away the uselessly huge ones. We should get a special box for storing spatulas, ladles, spoon, fork, knives etc for safety and hygiene.

For the other utensils, we should keep them in a special way. For example, we can keep the smaller ones in the larger ones and that's how we can pile up each set together, thus giving us more space.

We shouldn't keep all these food items in the kitchen as there's less space (at least for me, our kitchen is tiny), instead keep them in some proper storage room for later use and safety from pests.

As for the pests like cockroaches, mice etc. a clean surrounding and regular pest control is enough to keep them away from spoiling our food.

So these are certain steps I could think of at 5 in the morning (I should be sleeping now -_-) to make the storage better in our kitchen.

Note on my observation of my family store and stack kitchen tools and equipment:

  • I feel that my family store and stack kitchen are not so much organised.
  • There are lots of places that remain dirty.

Suggestions for improving the storing and stacking procedures:

  • Bowls, cups and glasses should be kept in storage.
  • They should arrange closed lockers or cupboards.
  • All the tools and equipment must be stored in a clean and dry place.
