It makes itself visible bcos when the light falls on it the object absorbs all the light rays and reflect the rays of which its colour is. This reflected rays enters our eyes and hence we can see the object. As for an example consider a blue bag. Now when the light rays falls on it it accepts all the rays and reflect the blue rays which enters our eyes and we can see the object as blue coloured i.e. we could see bag as blue
